Grand Marshal

Moira Merrigan Kiernan, lifelong resident of Yonkers, is our 2024 Grand Marshal. She and her brother, Timothy Merrigan, were raised in the northwest section of the city by their mother, Beverly Kelly Merrigan. Her family originated from Counties Down and Armagh, and Munster Province, particularly Killarney. She has deep Yonkers roots that go back 5 generations. In fact, her great-grandfather George T. Kelly, was a Yonkers builder who constructed Yonkers City Hall, Gorton High School and various public buildings in Westchester in the early 20th Century.

She attended Maria Regina High School, the College of Mount of St Vincent, and received a Master’s in Business Administration from Manhattan College. Moira’s husband, Christopher R. Kiernan was a Deputy Chief with the Yonkers Fire Department, passing away in 2004.

Moira continues her distinguished career in local banking, presently as a Vice President of Orange Bank & Trust, and is managing their new banking office on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers. She is a past recipient of the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce Women in Business – Business Professional Award.

Strongly committed to community service that reflects her interest in the health, welfare and economic vitality of our community, Moira serves on numerous Boards of service organizations that enhance the lives of many in Yonkers. That includes currently being Chairwoman of the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce and New York Creative Arts Therapy Foundation, as well as a Board member of St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Finian Sullivan Corporation, Sacred Heart High School’s Board of Advisors, Mount Hope Cemetery Association, Westchester County Bar Foundation, Yonkers Community Planning Council and several affordable housing organizations that serve the Yonkers community. A parishioner of Sacred Heart, she is also a member of the Amackassin Club, and is an avid golfer and tennis player.

She was previously honored by the Parade Committee as an Aide to the Grand Marshal in 2010, and we are delighted that Moira Kiernan is serving as our 2024 Grand Marshal of the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade on McLean Avenue.
