Rev Thomas Collins
2014 Grand Marshal
REVEREND THOMAS COLLINS

Reverend Thomas Collins, the first Grand Marshal for the newly merged Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade on McLean Avenue, was born and raised in Yonkers, one of six children of Thomas and Martha Dolan Collins. His paternal grandparents are from County Limerick and his maternal grandparents are from County Tyrone. He is an alumnus of Christ the King Grammar School in Yonkers, Stepinac High School and Iona College where he was an Accounting Major. After college, he realized that he had a calling to the religious life and decided to study at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. He was ordained a priest in 1992. His first assignment was at St. Columbanus Parish in Cortlandt Manor. But in 1995 he returned to Stepinac as a Theology Professor and later held positions of Dean of Students and Major Gifts Officer. In 2011 he became the first graduate to be appointed President of Stepinac. One of Father Collins’ passions is golf and he was the golf team Coach at Stepinac from 1997 to 2010. His teams did very well and won the title in 1997. He was subsequently named Coach of the Year by the Journal News.

On weekends, Father Collins can be found helping at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe and Our Lady of Sorrows in White Plains. During the week, he often celebrates Mass with the Religious of the Divine Compassion at Good Counsel. He is also the Chaplain for the Police Emerald Society of Westchester and sits on the Board of two schools, Holy Child in Rye and Preston High School in the Bronx. In 2008, he was named Chaplain of the White Plains St. Patrick’s Day Parade and was an Aide to the Grand Marshal in 2009. In 2012 he was honored as Grand Marshal for the White Plains St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

We are delighted to have Father Collins as the 2014 Grand Marshal for the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade on McLean Avenue.
